StudShelf Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 21, 2026
What StudShelf Is
StudShelf is a local-first application for tracking building-set collections and build activity.
No StudShelf account is required, and StudShelf does not currently provide cloud synchronization.
Information Stored on Your Device
Your shelf, set statuses, build progress, sessions, ratings, reviews, notes, onboarding choice, and recovery information are stored locally on your device.
StudShelf does not automatically upload this library information to its servers.
Removing StudShelf, clearing its app or browser storage, or otherwise deleting its local data may remove your library. StudShelf has no cloud copy from which to restore it.
Backups and User-Directed Sharing
Backup files are created only when you request them. They may contain your complete set history, sessions, ratings, reviews, and notes.
You choose where to save, import, or share a backup. Treat backup files as private.
Completion-card PNG images are created locally and are shared only when you choose a destination through your operating system’s share controls. StudShelf does not automatically upload backups or completion images.
Set Search and Public Catalog Data
When you search for a set, StudShelf sends the search term to:
The StudShelf API uses that term to request public set-catalog data from Rebrickable.
The API does not receive your:
Library or shelf information
Build sessions or progress
Ratings or reviews
Notes
Backup contents
Account credentials
Clipboard contents
Set images may load from Rebrickable’s content-delivery network.
The hosting, network-security, catalog, and image providers involved in search may process ordinary request information, such as:
The search term
IP or network information
A coarse city or country derived from an IP address
Timestamps
User-agent information
Request details
Technical and security diagnostics
This information may be processed or retained according to each service provider’s applicable settings and policies.
StudShelf uses search information only to provide, protect, and secure app functionality. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Advertising, Tracking, Analytics, and Crash Reporting
StudShelf does not include its own third-party:
Advertising
Cross-app tracking
Analytics
Session replay
Crash-reporting SDK
StudShelf does not automatically send crash reports directly to StudShelf-operated servers, and StudShelf does not sell personal data.
When StudShelf is distributed through TestFlight, Apple may collect and share installation, usage, crash, diagnostic, and tester-submitted feedback information under Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
Apple’s TestFlight service is separate from StudShelf’s own support and feedback systems.
Feedback and Support
If you choose Beta Feedback, copy a safe error report, or send an email, the information you write and any files you attach are sent to the destination you choose.
Normal safe diagnostics are limited to information such as:
App version and build number
App environment and schema version
Device platform
Operating-system information, when available
Current screen
Timestamp
Safe diagnostics do not include your:
Library
Sessions
Reviews
Notes
Backups
Credentials
Browser URL
Device identifier
Email and infrastructure providers may process or retain support messages, your email address, and ordinary delivery or security metadata under their applicable settings and policies.
Do not send passwords, authentication cookies, private keys, or raw backup files unless support explains why one is necessary and you choose to provide it.
If you submit a closed-beta interest form, StudShelf may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, name, device information, and comments. This information is used to manage beta participation and communicate essential beta information. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
The closed-beta interest form is provided through Google Forms and is subject to Google’s applicable privacy practices.
If you submit the contact form on the StudShelf website, StudShelf and its website provider may receive the information you choose to provide, including your first name, last name, email address, and message. This information is used to review and respond to your inquiry, provide support, and consider feedback. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. The contact form is provided through Squarespace and is subject to Squarespace’s applicable privacy practices.
Retention, Deletion, and Your Choices
Device-only data remains until you:
Edit or delete it
Restore a backup
Clear StudShelf’s storage
Remove the app in a way that deletes its data
Because there is no StudShelf account, there is no cloud account or cloud library to delete.
You may stop using search and continue using information already saved on your device.
You control whether to create or share:
Backups
Completion images
Feedback
Screenshots
Safe error reports
Search, security, and support records handled by service providers may be processed or retained according to those providers’ applicable settings and policies.
You may contact StudShelf with a privacy or support question using the address below.
Children and Age Suitability
StudShelf is not designated as Made for Kids.
The current version does not:
Require an account
Request a birth date
Provide a social feed
Include messaging
Allow user-generated content sharing
Catalog imagery may include infrequent depictions of fantasy or cartoon conflict associated with building sets.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when StudShelf’s features, distribution methods, or service providers change.
The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when a material update is published.
