As StudShelf grows, those personal building stories will become the foundation of a wider community built around discovery, creativity, and a shared love of building.

Why StudShelf Exists

Most collection tools focus on ownership: what you have, what you want, and what you have completed.

StudShelf was created to capture everything in between.

The late-night build sessions. The project that took weeks. The set you loved assembling but felt differently about once it was finished. The milestones, monthly recaps, ratings, reviews, and small details that make every shelf personal.

StudShelf turns a list of sets into a history of your building journey—and, over time, a way to connect that journey with other builders.

Built for Community

The current closed beta is intentionally focused on creating a stable, private, local-first foundation. Before introducing accounts and social features, StudShelf is making sure collection tracking, progress, reviews, backups, accessibility, and data safety work reliably.

But StudShelf’s long-term vision has always been bigger than a personal tracker.

The goal is to build a community where people can:

  • Create a profile that reflects their building identity

  • Share collections, completed builds, progress, ratings, and reviews

  • Discover what other builders are working on

  • Follow people with similar interests

  • Celebrate milestones and monthly recaps

  • Exchange inspiration without turning the experience into a popularity contest

  • Find new sets and perspectives through the community itself

Community is not an optional feature being added to StudShelf later. It is the direction the product is being carefully built toward.

Independently Built

StudShelf was created by Michael Miklus, an independent developer, builder, collector, and unapologetic statistics nerd.

What began as an idea for a more thoughtful way to track builds has grown into a native app focused on progress, reflection, organization, and the stories behind a collection.

StudShelf is being developed carefully, with real-device testing, accessibility, data safety, and feedback from builders guiding each step.

Our Approach

A community platform needs a reliable foundation. StudShelf begins by giving people dependable tools to manage and protect their own collection data.

Make collections personal.
Statuses, sessions, reviews, ratings, and recaps help tell the story behind every shelf.

Finishing a set matters, but so does everything that happened along the way.

Future social features should encourage discovery, creativity, conversation, and genuine connection—not pressure people to chase numbers.

Privacy, thoughtful defaults, clear choices, and responsible data practices will remain important as accounts and community tools are introduced.

What Comes Next

StudShelf is currently preparing for its first closed beta.

Early testing is focused on the essential personal experience: collection management, active build tracking, sessions, reviews, recaps, backups, accessibility, and reliability across real devices.

The next chapters will gradually introduce the community layer—profiles, discovery, shared collections, build activity, social interaction, and new ways to celebrate what people create.

Those features will be added deliberately. The goal is not simply to place a social feed beside a collection tracker. It is to create a home for builders that feels useful, welcoming, expressive, and worthy of the collections people spend years creating.
